Riding With: Dave Blaney

Sunday: The Hartford native finished in 32nd place in the Toyota Caterpillar at the Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Blaney started in 16th position, qualifying with an average speed of 162.657 mph, and got as high as 12th. He averaged 138.920 mph in Sunday’s race and finished four laps off the pace. Blaney dropped one spot in the Sprint Cup standings, to 37th place, 386 points behind leader (and Sunday’s winner) Kyle Busch.

Next: Blaney and the rest of NASCAR’s top series goes to the short track in Bristol, Va., for the Food City 500 next Sunday.
