Public invited to Warren postmaster installation
WARREN – The public is invited when Warren native Thomas Kerns is installed as the 32nd Postmaster of Warren at 10 a.m. March 20 in City Council Chambers, 141 South St. S.E.
Kerns assumed duties as postmaster Feb. 2, replacing Postmaster Veronica Rice who was appointed the postmaster of Youngstown.
Kerns, a 22-year Postal Service veteran, is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He began his career as a city letter carrier in Springfield, Ohio, and later returned to Warren to work as a letter carrier. He was promoted to supervisor, Customer Service, in Niles 1993. In 1997, Kerns became the supervisor of Customer Service in Cortland, where he remained until his promotion to manager of Customer Service of the Warren Parcel Post Annex in 1998. Other assignments included Management Team leader for the Akron District Joint Route Inspection Team, and Officer in Charge of the Hubbard, Niles, and Warren Post Offices.
