Pony breeders plan annual spring sale
ELLSWORTH — The Mahoning Valley Pony Breeder’s Association will have its annual spring sale starting at 9:30 a.m. April 19 at Buckeye Horse Park, 9260 Akron-Canfield Road (U.S. Route 224 west of Canfield.) Sales of new goods will begin at 9:30 a.m., with used items going on sale at 1 p.m. Horses and ponies are set to sell at 4 p.m. For more information, call Jason Sanderbeck at (330) 718-3977.
Author will help with finding family trees
WARREN – Vicki Blum Vigil, author of “Finding You Family History in Northeast Ohio” will offer tips on finding a family tree at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. The event is being held in conjunction will the 20th anniversary of the library’s Local History Genealogy Center on the second floor of the main library.
Eastwood Mall gallery features young artists
NILES — The Art Outreach Gallery at the Eastwood Mall features the works of young, aspiring artists to mark National Youth Art Month. From 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, the works of McDonald schools pupils from kindergarten through 12th grade will be featured in a reception. At 6 p.m. Friday, Mayor Ralph Infante will proclaim March National Youth Art Month at the gallery. From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday is young children’s craft day hosting by McDonald art students and educator Melissa Mills. The event is free and open to the public. From 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, the works of Girard pupils grades kindergarten through 12 will participate in a student art reception.
Weather spotters to conduct training
Mahoning County Skywarn, a volunteer organization of weather spotters will conduct training on how to recognize approaching storms and tornadoes at 6 p.m. March 26 at Austintown Fitch High School, Falcon Drive. Training is free and open to the public. Gary Garnet, warning coordinator meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Cleveland, will conduct the training.
