Local products named PAC players of the week

Thiel College junior right fielder Dave Nypaver (Howland) and junior starter Josh Tedesco (Ursuline) earned the first Presidents’ Athletic Conference hitter and pitcher of the week awards.

Nypaver is hitting .684 with 11 runs scored and 10 RBIs for the Tomcats, who finished 7-3 during their spring break trip to the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. Nypaver had at least three hits in three games, including a 3-for-3 effort with four RBIs and four runs scored in a 19-9 win over Bluffton.

Tedesco finished 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA and 12 strikeouts during the trip. He posted a victory in the Tomcats’ 13-1 win over the U.S. Merchant Marines, allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in six innings. He followed that with a six-inning, four-strikeout effort in a 19-6 win over Finlandia University.
