Ex-President Clinton to visit Valley to raise funds for Hillary’s campaign

CANFIELD — Former President Clinton will be making a stop in the Valley on Tuesday on a fund-raising trip in support of his wife’s presidential bid.

Businessman Bruce Zoldan will be hosting a $1,000-per-ticket fund-raiser at his Canfield home.

The event will begin about 8 p.m.

Harry Meshel, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York’s campaign chairman for the Mahoning Valley, distributed invitations to various members of the community. Proceeds will aid Clinton’s primary campaign going into Pennsylvania. That state’s April 22 primary is seen as the next big prize in the Democratic race for president.

“Money now is very important in the remaining states,” said Meshel. “Bill’s a pretty good campaigner. A lot of people like him."

The former president has no plans to speak publicly, Meshel said.

Hillary Clinton held a Feb. 21 rally at Chaney High School in Youngstown. While there were factors working against her heading into Tuesday’s Ohio primary, such as losing 11 straight state Democratic races, Clinton won Ohio by 10 percentage points.
