as pastor of Gospel Baptist

POLAND — Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Road, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its pastor, Ron Royalty, during a party at 5 p.m. March 15 at the church. The program will include a special presentation and tribute along with testimonies and memories. Attending will be past and present church members and those who have been influenced by his ministry.

Pastor Royalty came to the church in 1983 as assistant pastor and began the Gospel Baptist School. In 1988, he became senior pastor and has served in that position since.

Before going to Gospel Baptist, he pastored for nine years in Oakland, Minn.

Pastor Royalty graduated from General Motors Institute in 1971 with a degree in mechanical engineering and then graduated in 1974 from Tennessee Temple University with master’s degrees in divinity and religious education.

He and his wife, Janice, have been married 38 years and have five grown children. Their son, Joel, is assistant pastor at Gospel Baptist Church. Another son, Jason, serves at the South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield, Tenn. A daughter, Rebekah, and her husband live in West Virginia, where he is a pastor. Their other children, Joshua and Diana, attend college. The family includes 11 grandchildren.
