Horizon play resumes tonight


INDIANAPOLIS — Wright State plays Valparaiso and Illinois-Chicago meets Loyola of Chicago in the second round of the Horizon League men’s basketball tournament tonight at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Wright State, the No. 3 seed, defeated Detroit, 60-37, in a first-round game Tuesday. Valparaiso, the No. 6 seed, beat Wisconsin-Green Bay, 75-67.

Illinois-Chicago advanced as the No. 4 seed, defeating Youngstown State, 70-59, Tuesday night, while Loyola, the No. 8 seed, upset No. 5 seed Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 57-51.

The Wright State-Valparaiso winner advances to play No. 2-seed Cleveland State in the semifinals Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The UIC-Loyola winner will play Butler Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the other semifinal, also at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The winners of the semifinals return next Tuesday at the site of the highest remaining seed in the championship game.

The games Friday and Saturday will be shown live on horizonleaguenetwork.tv, and the championship game will be on ESPN at 9 p.m.
