Creekside Fitness owner mulling decision to take over Club South

BOARDMAN — The owner of Creekside Fitness in Boardman is considering taking over operations of Club South.

Ed Reese is “very interested” in adding the closed Tiffany Boulevard club to his Creekside center on Boardman-Canfield Road, said John Giannios, Club South’s landlord.

Giannios said the two have been talking for a month and were to meet today to see if they could hammer out a deal.

Reese can now step in because Club South’s former operator, Lance Owens, has agreed to step aside. Owens agreed Monday to terminate his lease and turn over all of Club South’s equipment to Giannios, who dropped a lawsuit that sought money for unpaid rent.

The status of memberships at Club South is unclear.

Stephen Garea, Giannios’ lawyer, said Reese would decide how to deal with people who already paid for memberships if he takes over Club South.
