WOMEN

Thomas More 65, Westminster 58

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — The fourth-seeded Titans (17-11) lost to the top-seeded and defending champions in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship game. Senior guard/forward Emilee Ackerman, the nation’s third-leading scorer (23.6 ppg) playing in her final college game, led the Titans with 21 points while tying a career high with 13 rebounds. Ackerman, the team’s all-time leading scorer, finishes her career with 1,483 points. Senior forward Terese Marszalek, also playing in her final game, bucketed 11 points for Westminster while freshman guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville) scored eight points to go with eight rebounds. Thomas More shot 46.2 percent (24-52) from the field and Westminster shot 40 percent (20-50). The Titans also held a 36-26 rebounding advantage.

Clarion 73, Slippery Rock 54

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Senior post player KellyAnn Staudinger scored a team-high 13 points in the final game of her collegiate career to lead The Rock’s effort against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion. Sophomore wing player Julie Molloy chipped in 12 points, sophomore wing Alissa Schake added seven points and sophomore guard Nikki Presto chipped in six points and a team-best seven rebounds and four assists for SRU (7-20 overall, 1-11 PSAC-W). Staudinger was one of four seniors honored before the game for their dedication to Rock Women’s Basketball. Joining her in the spotlight were post player Nijha McNeely and guards Kara Spagnola and Dana Stewart.

Clarion 93, Slippery Rock 90

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Rock worked an overtime shift in hopes of securing an elusive berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs, but could not cash the check. Clarion escaped with the win in Morrow Field House. In the process, the Golden Eagles (16-11 overall, 7-5 PSAC-W) extinguished SRU’s bid for its first PSAC playoff berth since the 1999-2000 season. SRU finished the season with a 7-20 overall record, the most wins by a Rock men’s team since the 2004-05 team had the same mark, and a 4-8 PSAC-West mark.
