Historical society seeks help of volunteers
MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St., is seeking volunteers to help preserve part of the industrial history of the county by identifying and cataloging a large number of Westinghouse items donated to the society by Sharon Coating, LLC.
Plans for the work will be discussed during a meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel, adjacent to the organization’s headquarters. The meeting will last approximately an hour, and work schedules, days, times and projects, will be considered. Former Westinghouse employees, people interested in its history or those with a little excess time are encouraged to become involved.
Anyone interested is asked to contact (724) 662-3490. Special arrangements will be made for those who are interested in the project but unable to attend the planning meeting.
