Area matmen place at state

Four Valley wrestlers earned spots on the podium during state tournament action this morning by finishing in the top eight in their respective weight classes.
In Division I, Boardman's Jeff Liggitt lost his final match, but finished eighth in the 135-pound weight class.
In Division II, Beaver Local's Dylan Ice (140) and Derek Wolfe (285) each finished fifth.
In Division III, Brookfield sophomore Tyler Thompson finished the tournament on a winning note by capturing seventh place at 103 pounds.
Fitch's Tony Jameson (145), Howland's Kyle Leek (125)and Greg Ryan (135) and Beaver Local's Jon Bittenger (160) will wrestle for state championships in tonight's finals.
