Bikers’ ride for charity

BOARDMAN — Bikers are invited to ride for charity Sunday to support a nonprofit exotic animal shelter.

The event is sponsored by Youngstown Cycle Supply and proceeds will go to Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary, the home of more than 200 rescued wild animals in Berlin Center.

The bike run begins at Youngstown Cycle Supply in Boardman and travels to the sanctuary.

After a tour of the wildlife, bikers are invited to B O Station in downtown Youngstown for dinner, which is included in the registration fee. The fee is $15 for bikers and $10 for passengers. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Youngstown Cycle Supply, 6915 Market St., with the first bike out at noon.

New recycling center

BOARDMAN — A new recycling drop-off center has opened in the parking lot of Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave., the Mahoning County Recycling Division has announced.

The new site accepts newspapers, magazines, phone books, office paper, flattened cardboard, metal food and beverage cans, glass bottles and No. 1 through 7 plastic containers.

E. Palestine fireworks

EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a fireworks display Saturday at the city park.

The program is scheduled to start after dusk.

Weathersfield meetings

MINERAL RIDGE — The Weathersfield Township Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals have canceled their July meetings.

The township trustees have changed their regular meeting from the second Tuesday of the month to 6 p.m. July 15 for open forum, a budget hearing at 6:45 p.m. and regular trustees meeting at 7 at the administration building.

Pride parade in Warren

WARREN – Anyone interested in participating in the second annual Warren’s Pride National Night Out Parade or setting up a community service booth Aug. 2 should call (330) 540-9861.

The organizing committee is looking for clowns, baton and drum corps, floats, antique tractors and cars and unique acts.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Elm Road and make its way to High Street, around Perkins Park and onto the amphitheater.

There will be a free concert beginning at 5 p.m. at the amphitheater.

During the day, social service agencies will provide information about what their agencies provide to the public.
