Yo-Mah-O installs officers, awards two scholarships


BOARDMAN — Yo-Mah-O Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals installed officers for the 2008-2009 term on June 10 at Johnny’s Restaurant, Market Street.

The ceremony was conducted by Joan Giba, who was assisted by Nancy Brunner, and seated were Judy Cundik, president; Sharyn Fees, vice president; Suzette Gibbs, secretary; Joyce Laska, treasurer; and Olga Rivera, assistant treasurer. Serving as parliamentary adviser will be Barbara Kramer.

Cundik joined the chapter in 1974 and has served as president in 1979, 1980, 1992 and 2007. She was named Secretary of the Year in 1982 and Member of the Year in 1998. In addition to serving on and chairing numerous committees and attending state and national IAAP conventions, she obtained her certified professional secretary and certified administrative professional designations. She is a certified professional coder and is employed by FiserveHealth-Harrington.

The chapter, which has awarded scholarships since 1951, this year awarded this year’s $1,000 scholarships to Katie Gettman and Michelle Arendas.

Gettman graduated from Jackson-Milton High School, where she held a 3.8 grade point average, was a member of National Honor Society, Honors Choir, Drama Club and Student Council. She received exemplary attendance awards for the past three years, was a three-year varsity letter winner on the volleyball and softball teams, was a cheerleader, a member of the prom court and was selected homecoming queen. She will major in business education at Youngstown State University.

Arendas is employed at the Home Savings and Loan and is majoring in business management at YSU.
