Switka, Bagoly give Rondinelli B League boost

STRUTHERS — Robert Switka pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and didn’t allow an earned run as Rondinelli Tuxedo posted a 4-1 victory over Livi Steel Saturday in a Class B League game at Cene Park.

Switka improved to (3-0). Jason Bagoly hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for Rondinelli (21-3).

Jim McCunnel (3-2) suffered the loss for Livi Steel (11-13).

R J Trucking 13, Youngstown Express 3

R J Trucking (17-7) scored seven runs in the sixth inning to put away the Youngstown Express. Brad Byers hit four singles and drove home four runs while picking up a save.

Matt Pitzulo hit two doubles and a single, and drove in four runs. Scott Smith worked five innings to pick up the win.

Astro Falcons 13, Action Physical Therapy 2

The Astro Falcons (17-7) were led by Jared Turocy who hit a triple and four singles. Jared Kirin added a double and two singles. Mark Lapikas worked the first five innings with six strike outs to earn the win.

Owen Timlin had two runs batted in for winless Action Physical Therapy (0-24).

Simon Roofing 5, Youngstown Express 2

In a completion of a suspended game, Matt Durkin hit a double and single.

Andy Zigmont (2-1) pitched six innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win for Simon (15-8). Anthony Onesti hit a pair of singles for the Express (5-19).

Roth Brothers 5, Action Physical Therapy 0

In another completion of a suspended game, Robert Goeke pitched a one-hitter as Roth Brothers shut out Action Physical Therapy.

Goeke retired the first 19 men before a one-out hit in the seventh by Jake Yatsko broke up the perfect game. Goeke (2-4) had five strikeouts.

Dave Schafer and Pat Mulligan each had two hits for Roth Brothers (8-15).

Astro Falcons 11, Roth Brothers 1

STRUTHERS — The Falcons (16-7) put the game away as they scored two runs in the fourth inning, five in the fifth and three in the sixth in Friday’s game.

Mike Natale hit three singles and drove in two runs.

Jared Turocy (2-3) worked two innings in relief to pick up the win and he hit a triple.

Dave Schafer hit a pair of singles for Roth.

Action Physical Therapy 1

STRUTHERS — Action Physical Therapy managed to tie the score 1-1 in the top of the third before losing for the 22nd straight time.

Simon Roofing pulled away as it scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Andy Zigmont tossed a complete game with three strikeouts for the win.

Matt Durkin had two hits for Simon while Todd Gaisor, Tim Schiradi, and Josh Dailey each had two hits each for Action Physical Therapy.

NILES — At Wilder Field, Youngstown Express forfeited 7-0 to Livi Steel.

WARREN — Four walks in the first inning led to four runs for Express (3-11).

The first run scored on a wild pitch, the other three on a double by Mike Carnahan.

Dave Patrick hit a double and single. Tom Popadak hit a two-run home run for the Marlins (9-6) in the bottom of the sixth inning.
