Katie L. Allen and Joe Smaldino plan Aug. 16 vows

X HUBBARD — Ed and Brenda Allen, of 1626 Brookfield Road, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Lyn Allen, of the same address, to Joe Smaldino, son of Mike and Donna Smaldino, all of 3124 Glen Oaks Drive, Youngstown.

The couple’s open wedding ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Victory Christian Center in Coitsville. Invitations will be sent out for their reception that evening at Mahoning Country Club in Girard.

The bride-elect attended Kent State University Trumbull Branch in Warren. She is a customer service/team leader for Best Buy in Niles.

The prospective groom attends Youngstown State University and will graduate Aug. 17 with a degree in human-resource management. He is a sales representative for Dillard’s in Boardman. Mr. Smaldino is also a sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard and has served a 14-month tour of duty in Iraq.
