“Casino Royale” was the first of James Bond’s adventures, which span 12 novels and two collections of short stories. Bond’s legacy continues 100 years since Ian Fleming’s birth, in the Young Bond series and in the new thriller “Devil May Care,” by Sebastian Faulks.

He also wrote the children’s classic “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
