Convention to feature book by former area author

ORLANDO, Fla. — Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International has invited former Struthers resident Tee Ross, now of Ellenton, Fla., to feature his book, “It’s A Great Life at Any Age: 7 Keys to a Happy Life,” at its World Convention from Tuesday through Saturday at Omni Resort Hotel at Championsgate, Fla.

Ross, a former big band leader in the Mahoning Valley, received the invitation due to the interest generated after an article on his book appeared in FGBMFI’s Voice magazine.

More information about the book and author is available from (877) 206-8771, at www.TeeRoss.com, or by e-mailing Tr7tr@verizon.net.

Mother’s experience basis of book on Lyme disease

WASHINGTON —In the war of information on Lyme disease, patient activist groups have started from a marked disadvantage to the medical establishment in terms of visibility and credibility. That may be changing thanks to science journalist Pamela Weintraub and her new book, “Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic” (St. Martin’s Press).

Weintraub, a senior editor at Discover magazine, uses her family’s protracted Lyme odyssey as the jumping-off point for an exploration into the history, politics and, predominantly, the patient experience of the tick-borne disease. Her husband and both of her sons became infected after the family moved to Chappaqua, N.Y.

She explains what she considers the failings of commercial tests used to diagnose Lyme and attacks the divisiveness in the medical community that she says interferes with finding better treatment.
