YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY

Nicholas A. Miladore, son of Drs. Michael J. and Dianne Bitonte Miladore, was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. The 2006 Canfield High School valedictorian is a participant in the Youngstown State-Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine BS/MD degree. He will graduate summa cum laude from YSU in August with a degree in combined science and begin his medical studies at NEOUCOM in September. He was recognized as this year’s top student in analytical chemistry at YSU.

Jamie Fiest, daughter of Ann and Dan Fiest of Girard, earned the Frieda F. Chapman Award in the Beeghly College of Education. The honor is given to an early childhood education major who shows evidence of becoming an outstanding teacher. Fiest graduated summa cum laude in May.

Breanna Rohrman of Struthers was awarded a $1,000 national Leadership Scholarship from Chick-fil-A. She is studying mechanical engineering and works at the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Boardman. She is the 18th employee from that franchise to receive the honor.

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, Columbus

Marissa M. Koby, daughter of Robert and Maria Koby of Canfield, was selected as the student honoree from the College of Education at the President’s Salute 2008 ceremony. The award is given to the university’s 200 top graduating seniors. She was also the recipient of the Faith Lanman Gorrell Leadership Award for 2008 and the Education and Human Ecology 2008 Professionalism Award and was part of the Ohio State Human Ecology Honors Program for four years. She was a former Miss Mahoning County in the Ohio Junior Miss competition and a member of the Mount Leadership Society at OSU for four years. She served as co-chairwoman and co-host of the OSU Celebration of Excellence in 2007 and 2008. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in education at the University of Hawaii.

St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Ind.

Allison M. Greene, daughter of Judy and Britt Greene of Poland, was the recipient of the Sister M. Rosaleen Dunleavy Allied Health Award. The honor is given annually to a graduating senior in the School of Science for success in the field of medicine. She is a member of Kappa Gamma Pi honor society and was named to “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” She will pursue graduate studies in the physician assistant program at Marietta College.

Baldwin Wallace College, Berea

Brittan Davis, daughter of Jeff and Kim Davis of Poland, was a White Rose Recipient at commencement services. The honor is given to 27 outstanding women each year, based on scholarship and leadership. She was the founder of POWRE (Promoting Our Women’s Resources and Experiences), the first feminist organization in the college’s 163-year history, and she was active in numerous other women’s causes. She was a member of the Psych Club, the Black Student Association and the Native American Student Alliance. She was also a four-year letter winner on the women’s soccer team, having received numerous honors for her athletic prowess. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in community agency counseling at Cleveland State University this fall. She was a 2004 graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
