Judge Waite elected YWCA board president


YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Cheryl L. Waite of the 7th District Court of Appeals was elected president of the YWCA Board of Directors at the organization’s recent 103rd annual meeting.

Other officers are Marseille Ballard, first vice president; Shirley Poindexter, second vice president; Chris Gabrick, treasurer; and, Betty Patterson, secretary.

Deborah Liptak received the YWCA Board Member of the Year honor; Varada Bhide received the YWCA Volunteer of the Year award; and John Seck was named YWCA Employee of the Year.

Newly elected board members for a 2008-11 term are: Marilyn Burbick, certified public accountant, Reali, Giampetro & Scott; Jacquelyn M. Daniel, annual giving coordinator, Youngstown State University; Freda Pritchett, graduate student; Jacqueline Rios, prevention specialist, Youngstown Urban Minority Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Outreach Program; Jere’e Green Stavich, political strategist and professional writer; Mary A. Williams, executive manager, Calvary Towers.

Chris Gabrick, certified public accountant, Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic, was re-elected to the board.
