NEW YORK — Janel McCarville scored a career-high 31 points and Shameka Christon had six of her 23 in the third overtime for New York. Essence Carson had 18 points, Loree More added 12 and Cathrine Kraayeveld 11 to lead New York (7-6) in a game that tied for the second-longest for overtime periods in the regular season in league history. Ebony Hoffman scored a career-high 26 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown had career highs with 23 points and 15 rebounds for Indiana (7-7). Katie Douglas added 18 points and Tamika Catchings had 15.

Lynx 80, Monarchs76

MINNEAPOLIS — Seimone Augustus had 23 points and rookie Candice Wiggins added 17 for the Lynx. It was the second consecutive win for the Lynx (8-6), who started the season 5-0 then lost six of seven. Nicole Powell had 20 points for the Monarchs (6-8), who have lost four of five since an 82-78 win at Minnesota on June 12.

Shock 70, Sun 61

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Deanna Nolan scored 13 points to lead a balanced Detroit offense. Detroit (11-4) used an 11-1 third-quarter scoring run to build a commanding lead after Connecticut trimmed the Shock’s lead to five. Nolan’s 3-point field goal with 3:44 remaining in the quarter gave the Shock a 50-37 lead before Cheryl Ford closed out the run off an offensive putback. Ford was one of three Shock players to score 10 points while Kara Braxton added 11. Asjha Jones led the Sun (11-4) with 14 points. Plenette Pierson, who scored 11 points in helping the Shock build their lead, left the game in the third quarter with a right knee strain.
