A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

June 23

Criminal mischief: A man in the 400 block of East Prospect Street noticed $300 worth of damage to part of his backyard fence’s lattice work.

Theft: Police arrested a 22-year-old Youngstown woman on a theft charge after a $5 tube of cream was stolen from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.

Attempted burglary: A woman noticed someone had tried to enter her Church Hill Road residence when she saw an open window and a screen that was pushed in.

June 24

Arrest: A Youngstown man, 25, was charged with disorderly conduct after officers got a 911 call requesting an ambulance for an intoxicated person who was passed out. The man yelled at and became combative with paramedics, the report said.

June 25

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a 20-year-old Girard man after his girlfriend alleged the man pushed her backward into a window as she packed her belongings to move from the residence.

Drugs: A Girard man, 20, faced charges of drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest when, authorities said, he ran from and resisted police when caught in an apartment building he was hiding in. Suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe were found, the report showed.

LIBERTY

June 22

Counterfeit: A man passed a phony $50 bill to pay for dry cleaning services at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. The man told police he was unaware the bill was fake and he was not charged.

Assault: Two Girard men, 24 and 29, were charged with disorderly conduct and assault, respectively, after officers got a loud-noise complaint at a Louise Lane residence. One of the men punched someone, which led to a brawl; the other man was intoxicated and caused several problems, police said.

Drugs: Two Youngstown men, 31 and 39, were taken into custody after being pulled over in the 3900 block of Belmont Avenue. One was charged with driving under suspension, the other with drug abuse when, police said, a small bag of suspected crack cocaine was found.

Theft: Canfield authorities handed to Liberty police a 24-year-old Youngstown man who was wanted on a warrant charging him.

Attempted burglary: A James Lane man discovered a side window had been smashed when someone tried unsuccessfully to enter.

Theft: A Santa Monica Circle woman reported her $300 cell phone missing.

Criminal mischief: A Lucretia Drive woman called police after realizing some of her mail had been opened.

June 23

Fraud: An official with Valley Electrical Consolidated Inc., 977 Tibbetts-Wick Road, accused an employee of writing unauthorized checks over a two-year period against the company’s account totaling nearly $115,000. The worker also used a company credit card to buy merchandise for himself, police were told.

Theft: A man and a woman took a $150 MP3 player from Radio Shack, 3551 Belmont Ave.

June 24

Theft: A Powers Avenue woman told police a company in England gained access to her bank account via the Internet and made an unauthorized $36 charge.

HUBBARD

June 21

Criminal damaging: An employee with a North Main Street business told police someone had used a key to damage the finish on a co-worker’s vehicle.

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 100 block of East Liberty Street found shaving cream on her car.

Robbery: An unarmed man in black pants with a thin mustache grabbed and stole an undisclosed amount of money from a register of a township business before fleeing on foot.

June 22

Criminal damaging: A worker with a North Main Street store reported vehicle damage.

June 23

Trespassing: An employee with the Hubbard School District, 250 Hall Ave., saw a man using a metal detector to look for something on a nearby field and close to the swimming pool. The man left without incident.

June 24

Criminal mischief: A caretaker of a park off Jones Street reported someone had written on several tables.
