Tickets are on sale for Downtown Dash
YOUNGSTOWN — The inaugural Downtown Dash and Fireworks Show will be July 3 from 5 p.m. to midnight at a number of downtown-area bars and restaurants.
Shuttle transportation will be provided. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. in the Chevrolet Centre parking lot, with music to follow in Central Square by The Zou and Jones For Revival.
Tickets are $10 and include three vouchers (good for up to $2 per location); a Downtown Dash button; shuttle rides and a route map to participating establishments; and “champion” T-shirts to those who visit each establishment.
Tickets can be purchased at a sign-up table at Central Square the night of the event and in advance at the following locations: Cafe Cimmento, Martini’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Barley’s, Rosetta Stone, Imbibe, Draught House, Boxcar Lounge and Cafe, University Pizzeria and Royal Oaks Bar Grille.
The event is sponsored by the city of Youngstown, the Youngstown Business Incubator and M7 Technologies. Proceeds benefit CityScape.
Small Ships Revue is ready to set sail
SHARON, Pa. — The 28th annual Small Ships Revue is ready to set sail at Quaker Steak Lube, downtown, at 6 p.m. Friday.
A pre-launch parade will kick off the event, with the homemade ships launched on the Shenango River at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place as well as in other categories like most unique and most patriotic. A panel of local celebrities do the judging.
More than $5,000 in cash and prizes, including $1,000 for the first place crew, will be awarded.
The Hern Brothers will perform on the main stage at 8 p.m., with Pipedreams playing at the Sugar Shack. A fireworks display will begin at 10:15 p.m.
Jazz band in concert at Courthouse Square
MERCER — Mercer Community Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Hendley D. Hoge, will perform a free big band concert at Courthouse Square at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The 21-piece ensemble will perform favorites such as “Over the Rainbow,” “String of Pearls,” “In the Mood” and “Embraceable You.” Accordionist Pat Septak will provide warm-up entertainment beginning at 6 p.m.
The Mercer Rotary Club will host an old-fashioned ice cream social and the Mercer Band Boosters will sell fresh popcorn throughout the evening.
The concert will be at Mercer High School auditorium if it rains.
