Scrappers rally to spill Doubledays, 6-4

Mahoning Valley trailed Auburn 4-0 before bouncing back with six runs.

AUBURN, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Auburn Doubledays, 6-4, in a New York Penn League game Wednesday night.

The Scrappers (5-4) scored three runs in the seventh inning on a two-run homer by Zach Booker and a RBI triple by Corteze Armstrong.

Mahoning Valley took the lead in the eighth on a pair of doubles and two throwing errors by Auburn that made it 5-4.

The Scrappers added an insurance run in the ninth inning on back-to-back doubles by Armstrong and Ryan Blair.

Austin Creps picked up his first win of the season in relief, and Wildredo Ramirez worked the eighth and ninth innings for his first save.

The Scrappers have won three of their last four games and return home for six straight days, starting tonight against the Batavia Muckdogs. Mahoning Valley plays Batavia for three games, then plays host to Auburn June 29-July 1.
