UNCASVILLE, Conn. — Asjha Jones scored 20 points and rookie Amber Holt added a career-high 19 as Connecticut moved ahead of Detroit into first place in the Eastern Conference. Connecticut (11-3) hadn’t beaten Detroit since Aug. 26, 2006, and hadn’t beaten Detroit (10-4) in a regular season game since June 18, 2005. Rookie Kerri Gardin also scored a career-high 14 for the Sun, who outrebounded the Shock, 42-32. Deanna Nolan led the Shock with 17 points. Katie Smith had 16 and Ford had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Mercury 98, Mystics 90

WASHINGTON — Diana Taurasi scored 31 points and fellow U.S. Olympian Cappie Pondexter added 28 as Phoenix halted Washington’s winning streak at three. Washington (5-8) was led by 37-year-old Taj McWilliams Franklin, who scored a career-high 31 points on 12-of-14 shooting, while Monique Currie scored 19 points for the Mystics.

Fever 78, Monarchs 73

INDIANAPOLIS — Ebony Hoffman had career highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Indiana rallied from an 18-point deficit. Katie Douglas finished with 20 points after starting 0-of-6 from the field and Tully Bevilaqua scored 11 for the Fever (7-6), who tied a franchise record for the second largest regular-season comeback. Indiana overcame a 19-point deficit to beat Phoenix on July 1, 2001. Ticha Penicheiro had 15 points and Kara Lawson chipped in 12 for Sacramento (6-7).

Lynx 91, Liberty 69

MINNEAPOLIS — Seimone Augustus scored 21 points and had nine assists, and Minnesota put an end to a few dubious streaks. The Lynx snapped a five-game losing streak after starting the season 5-1 and ended a six-game losing streak against New York, dating back to 2005. Minnesota had also lost seven straight to the Liberty at Target Center, with its only previous victory at home against New York coming July 17, 1999.
