Man grabs cash from Hubbard IGA and escapes


HUBBARD — Police are investing a robbery at the IGA Supermarket on West Liberty Street.

According to police reports, a man in his early 20s came into the store at 8:30 p.m. Sunday and eventually walked to the checkout. He gave the cashier money to pay for a package of candy. After scanning item the cash drawer opened and suspect reached over and grabbed all the 50’s and 20’s, then ran from the store.

A witness later told police she saw a man fitting the description of the thief running and cutting through a neighbor’s yard toward Speedway. The store’s video system was reviewed and showed the would-be thief walking around in the store about 10 minutes before the robbery.
