FOOD SALES AND DINNERS | Sit-down and takeout events planned
FRIDAY
• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; and bread and butter, coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.
• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will sell pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m. Friday.
SATURDAY
• American Legion Post 15, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15, and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 15, all of the Mahoning Valley, will be selling spaghetti dinners. Dinner will be served from noon until 4 p.m. at the post home, 35 Cortland St. in Poland. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under, and includes meatballs, salad, bread and a beverage. Proceeds will benefit programs of the American Legion family. • American Legion Post 290, state Route 14, Columbiana, will have a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Meals will include baked potato, salad, Texas toast and coffee or tea. A band has been scheduled from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
• North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will sponsor a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The all-you-can-eat meal will feature eggs, pancakes, french toast, potatoes, sausage, fruits, juice and coffee. A donation will be accepted. For more information, call (330) 549-2333.
• Salem Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St., will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 2 to 10 and free for those under 2. Featured will be pancakes, scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage, bacon, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, home fries, toast, fruit cocktail, coffee, orange juice and tea. Carryouts will be available. There is a handicapped-accessible elevator.
SUNDAY
• Italian Fest dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus parish hall, corner of Cameron and Gibson avenues, Youngstown. The menu will include baked chicken, pasta and meatballs, sausage with peppers and onions, tossed salad, homemade desserts, and coffee or tea. • Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, Poland, will have dinners of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans available from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) July 3. The cost is $6. Take advantage of the drive-through takeout service. Drive to the front of the church, and someone will hand you a dinner to go. No need to pre-order or get out of the car.
