Fire does $10,000 damage at V&M Star Steel

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire in the roof area above a compressor room at V&M Star Steel on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard caused about $10,000 damage, the fire department said. A ladder truck was used Tuesday evening to put firefighters on the roof. Earlier in the day, workers had been cutting away old flashing to replace it with new and a small fire started. The workers thought they had put it out but the fire department was called out just past 6 p.m., reports show.
