June 23, 1983: The state auditor’s office says financial records of the Canfield School District were “manipulated” by a former treasurer, resulting in payment of $50,500 to three companies for office supplies that were neither authorized nor delivered.

The Vukovich administration and City Council appear on a collision course over the spending of $2 million allocated to the city under a federal jobs bill. “Dicky” Bedo, son of R.E. Bedo, an employee of the George Renner Co. in Youngstown, is the model pictured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. Bedo has posed for many national magazines.

Albert Kulib, 8, is injured in an accident along the Y S Railroad tracks at South Side Park. The accident occurred at a spot where children have been congregating, attracted by construction of a nearby culvert.
