Scrappers snap losing streak

Mahoning Valley plays the Doubledays in Auburn, N.Y. today.

BATAVIA, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers rallied for four runs in Sunday’s ninth inning on just two hits to defeat the Batavia Muckdogs, 8-6.

Four walks and a hit-batsman helped the Scrappers (3-3) snap a three-game losing streak.

Trailing 6-4 in the final frame, Lonnie Chisenhall and Brock Simpson opened with walks off reliever Adam Reifer (0-1).

After Jeremie Tice singled to score Chisenhall, Jansy Infante bunted to load the bases.

After Booker was hit by a pitch to tie the game, Ryan Blair walked, sending Tice to the plate with the go-ahead run. Corteze Armstrong drew another bases-load walk for an insurance run.

Today, the Scrappers are in Auburn, N.Y., to play the Doubledays at 7:05 p.m.
