National Science Foundation director visits YSU
YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Arden L. Bement Jr., director of the National Science Foundation visited Youngstown State University this morning to help cut the ribbon on a new chemistry laboratory that his agency helped finance.
The National Science Foundation provided the university with a $475,000 to help make the research facility a reality.
Bement said he was impressed with the diversity of students presenting their research projects to him before the lab opening ceremony. It shows that YSU is doing very well at attracting women and minorities into the science fields, he said.
