Seeking photos, music for ‘Y-town’

Submissions can be mailed or e-mailed to Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini.

Staff Report

The filmmakers of the documentary “Y-town” are looking to the people of Youngstown to help out and become a part of the movie.

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, John Chechitelli and director Sam Kass were in Youngstown last month interviewing people for the film, which will be complete later this year. Now they are asking residents to share photographs and news clippings about Youngstown and its people.

All photos, whether old or new, are being sought — as long as they reflect Youngstown, from its past to the present. “The subject matter can deal with friends and family, sports, steel mills, tavern life, school, religion and anything else you feel would show our viewers what Youngstown is all about,” said Mancini in a news release. “If you feel you have a photo that ‘needs to be in this film,’ please send it to us.”

The documentary makers are also looking for local musicians to be a part of the soundtrack.

“Send us any original music that speaks to life in Youngstown,” said Mancini. “We are accepting music by itself, as well as anything accompanied by video.”

Anyone who sends material that is used in the film will receive a credit and on-screen thanks in the final cut of the movie.

The filmmakers would prefer if all material submitted were copies, and not originals. But if it is necessary to send an original, they ask that the sender attach a note stating such, and include a return mailing address.

Send all materials to: Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, c/o Youngstown Productions, 2901 Ocean Park Blvd., Suite 201, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
