Ripley’s Mirror Maze opens in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Ripley’s has opened an unusual attraction in Myrtle Beach called the Marvelous Mirror Maze.
The walk-through attraction features hundreds of floor-to-ceiling mirrors, nearly 2,000 square feet in all of mirrored paths, corners, dead ends, hallways and circles.
The maze offers multiple paths and visitors can even begin at the end and work their way through backward.
Visitors to Myrtle Beach will find other Ripley attractions there as well: Ripley’s Aquarium, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, Ripley’s Moving Theater, and Ripley’s Super Fun Zone.
Ford’s Theatre tours go further into Lincoln case
WASHINGTON — Tourists can get a new look at Abraham Lincoln’s assassination with the help of a crime detective brought back from 1865.
Ford’s Theatre is currently closed for renovations, but it’s offering new scripted walking tours that extend beyond the site where Lincoln was shot.
The 1.4-mile tour runs from Ford’s Theatre in downtown Washington to the White House.
The tours are led by a costumed actor playing Detective James McDevitt, a real investigator on duty with Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department when the president was killed.
Tours of the “investigation” continue through August.
Tickets are $12 each or $10 each for groups of 20 or more.
New Philly museum shows famous race cars
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia has a new museum featuring cars from famous races and historic tracks around the world.
The Simeone Foundation Museum showcases racing cars going all the way back from before World War I, right up to a 21st century NASCAR model. Many of the museum’s cars are displayed in dioramas that consist of blown-up photos of the places and races where the vehicles competed.
The museum, at 6825-31 Norwitch Drive, is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $12, with children under 8 free with an adult.

Seattle chefs’ lessons offered in culinary tour
SEATTLE — Eight new culinary tours are being offered by the Gray Line of Seattle bus company this summer.
Each tour features a visit with a chef from a popular Seattle restaurant. Participating eateries are Crush, Troiani Ristorante Italiano, El Gaucho, Sky City at the Space Needle, Chandlers Crabhouse on Lake Union, Daniel’s Broiler at Lake Union, Waterfront Grill and Palisade.
On each tour, the presiding chef will greet participants at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and accompany them to a market to shop for the day’s ingredients. The group will then return to the chef’s restaurant for a cooking demonstration on a specialty dish. Guests get the recipe to take home.
