Sugar has easy time in 8-2 win


Action Physical Therapy remained winless with its 19th straight defeat.

STRUTHERS — Dave Sugar Excavating scored two runs in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh innings in posting a 8-2 victory over winless Action Physical Therapy Friday in Class B League action at Cene Park.

Nick Dinello and Jake Kucek hit two singles apiece for Dave Sugar (15-4), while Travis Richey pitched the first four innings allowing only four hits to pick up the win.

Jake Yatsko had a run-scoring double for Action (0-19).

Wharmby Sports 8, Roth Brothers 3

STRUTHERS — Brian Szabo pounded out three singles in leading Wharmby Sports (6-13) to victory.

Ben Bechtol, Ross Lopez, and Ian Dunn added two hits apiece, while Tyler Armstrong (1-1) pitched a complete game, allowing only one earned run.

Brock McGivern paced Roth Brothers (5-12) with a pair of singles.

Warren AA

WARREN — Matt DiMuzio pitched a one-hitter with two strikeouts as the Mahoning Valley Knights shut out Trumbull County Predators 15-0 in a five-inning Warren Class AA League game Friday at Packard MacGregor Field.

The Knights, who lead the Caffie Division with a 10-2 record, snapped a two-game losing streak as they scored nine runs in the first inning.

The big inning produced those runs on two doubles, five walks, three singles and an error.

The Knights’ Rick DiMuzio hit a double and two singles, while Derek Stanton, Brian Stanton and Andy Todor each had two hits. Brian Daugherty hit a double.

The Predators slipped to (1-8).

Cleats Club Seat Grille 2, P.I. I. Express 0

WARREN — Cleats Club evened its season record (6-6), while Express has the worst record in the Dorchock Division (2-10).

Josh Lawrence (2-0) worked seven innings, scattered six hits and struck out three to pick up the win.

Mike Swoboda hit three singles to pace Cleats Club.

Don Marsh and Josh Miller, who hit a double, added two hits apiece.

Tom Jones hit a pair of singles for Express.

Pittsburgh 8, Youngstown Metros 7

YOUNGSTOWN — Baseball Training Academy of Pittsburgh scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a Tri-State Collegiate League contest Thursday at Pemberton Park.

Three singles loaded the bases and with one out, Aaron Ordy singled home Diesel Kirikoff.

Scott hit a home run and single.

Chris Beaity hit two doubles and drove in three runs.

Armani Johnson hit a triple and double for the Metros, while Dom Sylvestry hit a triple and two singles and drove in two runs.

Andy Dobson hit a pair of singles.

Elite Shockers 3, Champion Marlins 2

WARREN — The Shockers (8-3), who lead the Dorchock Division of the Warren AA League, won their third extra inning game this week, getting the deciding run in the eighth inning.

Tony Pozega came on relief in the seventh inning and pitched two scoreless innings, with two strikeouts to pick up the win.

Mike Johnson and Justin Street each had two hits.

Travis McCartney hit a pair of singles for the Marlins (8-5).
