Argus Lodge will host Civil War re-enactment

CANFIELD — The Masons of Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield will host a Civil War re-enactment July 26-27 at Argus Park on Shields Road.

The event will feature more than 200 infantry soldiers in different battlefield scenarios that are complete with smoke and noise.

Included will be four cannons that were used in the movie “Gettysburg,” and two of those saw service in the Civil War.

Spectators can visit different camps to see how Union and Confederate troops, civilians and tradespeople lived at that time. Specially trained re-enactors will portray historic figures such as Gens. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson and President Lincoln.

Patrons will be able to shop at many craft tents, and food and drink concessions will be available.

Gates open at 9 a.m. July 26 and at 10 a.m. July 27. Battle re-enactments will begin at 2 p.m. both days. Admission is $5 and free for children 10 and under.
