Roads closed for repairs
The Trumbull County engineer is closing portions of two county roads for repairs.
Warner Road on the Fowler and Hartford townships line, between Everett-Cortland Road and Bradley-Brownlee Road, is closed until further notice for a bridge repair. The detour is Warner to state Route 305, Sodom-Hutchings Road to Bradley-Brownlee.
Burnett Street in Warren Township, between Leavitt and Layer roads, will be closed from Monday through July 3 for a bridge repair. The detour is Leavitt to Risher Road to Layer.
Oak Express to close
BOARDMAN — The Oak Express furniture store at 444 Boardman-Canfield Road (U.S. Route 224) is slated to close on June 30 after being in business there for 26 years.
A company employee said two of the six full-time employees accepted transfers to other Oak Express stores.
Salem fuel costs are up
SALEM — The city’s fuel costs are up, city Service Director Steve Andres told council Tuesday.
The city had budgeted a total of $48,335 for gasoline and diesel fuel for the first five months of this year. Actual spending for the fuels was $53,940 for the period.
Andres pointed out that when he estimated fuel costs at the beginning of the year, he had no way of knowing that a gallon of either fuel would jump by almost $1.50 in five months.
Court issues warrant
WARREN — A court has issued an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old Warren man who is a suspect in the Monday robbery of Lincoln Elementary in which $11,000 in tuition money was taken.
The warrant was obtained by Detective Wayne Mackey charging Timothy Anderson, who was identified through school security cameras.
A police report said a gunman entered the Atlantic Street school about 1 p.m. and took a cash box containing the summer school tuition money.
Italian festival entries
YOUNGSTOWN— The Greater Youngstown Italian Festival is inviting entries for its fourth annual homemade wine contest. Anyone can enter up to two bottles of homemade wine.
The deadline for entry is July 21, and the cost per bottle entered is $5. The contest will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 at 20 Federal Place downtown. A panel of judges will determine first-, second- and third-place winners.

Arbor Day ceremony
CANFIELD — The Canfield Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Board will have its Arbor Day ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Friday by the Rotary Building at Fair Park.
There will be a tree-planting ceremony to honor the late Frank Harbol, who served on the parks board for more than 16 years.
The city has been a Tree City U.S.A. for 27 years through the National Arbor Day Foundation.
YWCA Girls Caf
WARREN — The YWCA will host a Girls Caf for teen girls in grades nine through 12 in Trumbull County from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at 375 North Park Ave.
Michelle Schmader, YWCA program director, said the cafe is an opportunity for young women to socialize and make new friends. They also will be instrumental in helping the YWCA Warren develop future programs, activities and events.

Summer camps
HOWLAND — Painting and drawing and basketball will be the camps scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 23-27.
Drawing and painting for ages 6 to 13 will be at the middle school, and basketball for the same ages will be at the township park.
