Quaker City Band begins concert series with a salute to soldiers


SALEM — The 85-member American Legion Quaker City Band, directed by Robert Domencetti, will begin its summer concert series at 6 p.m. Sunday at Waterworth Park. The band will be salute members of Salem American Legion Charles H. Carey Post 56, as well as all military and veterans.

Members of the American Legion will post the colors during the National Anthem.

Cassie Utt, a Salem High School student, will sing “God Bless America.” Jennifer Mollenkopf, a member of the American Legion Quaker City Band and also the director of the East Palestine High School band, will serve as a guest director,. Music will include “America the Beautiful,” “Victory at Sea,” “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “The Armed Forces Salute.”
