Meeting Tuesday, Milton Township trustees handled these matters:

Passed a motion to enter into contracts with Butch McCree Inc. of Hillsville, Pa., and R.T. Vernal Paving Inc. of New Middletown to resurface County Line Road, Whisper Lane and Orchard Place. The pacts with Butch McCree and R.T. Vernal are for $68,703 and $33,559, respectively, noted Leni Schulz, fiscal officer. Work on Whisper and Orchard should get under way in early July; paving County Line road is expected to begin within 90 days, Schulz estimated.

Entered into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to buy roughly 150 tons of salt at a reduced rate to treat area roads during the 2008-09 winter. The township could save up to 25 percent through ODOT, Schulz noted, adding that the material should be delivered in several installments by November.

Renewed a contract with the Mahoning County Green Team regarding space for recycling bins. The township will collect a rental fee from the Green Team, and someone will monitor the bins to ensure that proper materials are being dropped off, Schulz said.
