Sports nutrition program set Wednesday at Boardman library

BOARDMAN — Leslie J. Bonci, director of sports medicine nutrition for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Center for Sports Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, will present a program on sports nutrition at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Boardman Branch, 7680 Glenwood Ave.

All Boardman coaches, athletes and their parents are welcome to attend the event, which is free and sponsored by the Boardman Girls Soccer Boosters. Reservations are required, however. Call (330) 261-3146.

Bonci, an author and long-distance runner, is also sports dietitian for the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Athletics, and is a nutrition consultant for several professional sports teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.
