Natalie Hogan, daughter of Mark and Susie Hogan of Boardman, received the Overmeyer Achievement Award and the B-W Women’s Club Louise Weishar Kiefer Scholarship during the college’s 2008 Ovation ceremony.

The Overmeyer award is presented to a student who has contributed to the life of the campus.

Hogan is a junior majoring in neuroscience and biology. She is president of the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Society and the Nu Rho Psi neuroscience honorary. She is a 2005 graduate of Boardman High School.

Sean Koch, son of Gary and Rosemary Koch of Lordstown, received the Milton T. Baldwin Award for academics during commencement ceremonies in May.

He was a political science major and a member of the Model United Nations and Model North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Dayton C. Miller National Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu International Social Science Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society and Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economics Honor Society.

He also worked as a Spanish and statistics tutor. He is a 2003 graduate of Lordstown High School.

Jamie Serenko, daughter of Gene and Laurie Serenko, received the Alan Blumenthal Prize in Student Government during the 2008 Ovation ceremony.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions in student government.

Serenko is a junior biology and pre-medicine major. She is president of the student body and a student fellow for the Center for Innovation and Growth. She is a 2005 graduate of Boardman High School.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE, Grove City, Pa.

Ryan Shaffer of West Farmington received the Roger Clark Dawes Professional Engineering Award this spring and was inducted into Scroll and Key scholastic honorary for seniors.

Scroll and Key is the highest academic award offered by the college. The Dawes award recognizes the most outstanding engineering graduate.
