Meshel wants trustees to scrutinize YSU hiring
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University Trustee Harry Meshel wants the board of trustees to take a closer look at all new positions being created by the university.
Meshel, speaking at a recent trustee’s Internal Affairs Committee meeting, asked that a ratification vote on a list of faulty and staff appointments presented by the administration be delayed so that committee members could have time to review the finances corrected with six new positions on the list.
The university is working with a very tight budget and the trustees shouldn’t approve any new positions without first reviewing the funding information and justification for those jobs, Meshel said.
