Kucek paces Dave Sugar ‘B’ win


Dan Banna’s four RBIs helped topple Roth; Jared Turocy hit a grand slam.

STRUTHERS — Jake Kucek had three hits as Dave Sugar Excavating knocked off Roth Brothers, 12-5, Sunday in Class B baseball action at Cene Park.

Dan Banna tripled and drove home four runs while Justin Shaffer, Pat O’Brien and Nick Dinello had two hits each for Dave Sugar (12-4).

Nick Crum was the winning pitcher in relief, allowing just one run in 32‚Ñ3 innings of work. Bubba Uhlman, Kevin Monti, and Stefan Stelk had two hits each for Roth (5-9).

Astro Falcons 15, Action Physical Therapy 3

Jared Turocy hit an inside-the-park grand slam for the Falcons. Turocy also added a single and finished with five runs batted in for Astro (8-6).

Jason Simon pitched the first four innings for the win, striking out eight.

Action (0-15) made five errors leading to 10 unearned runs.

R J Trucking 9, Youngstown Express 0

Scott Smith had three hits and John Madeline two for R J (11-4). Nick Baiamonte tossed a six-hit shutout with eight strikeouts for the win, his fourth in five decisions.

Dean Porter had two hits for the Express (4-11) while Eric Walters suffered the loss to fall to 1-3.

Late Saturday

Shawn Roman’s two-out single scored Jamie Shepard with the only run of the game as Rondinelli Tuxedo defeated Dave Sugar Excavating 1-0.

Winning pitcher Drew Fitzpatrick (2-0) allowed only four hits and struck out three as Rondinelli extended their league best record to 12-2.

Jason Bagoly added a triple for the winners. Todd Kibby was the tough luck loser as the run scored was unearned. Kibby allowed only three hits and struck out seven as he lost for the first time in three outings.

Dave Sugar stranded eight as in the game as they slipped to 11-4 on the year.

R&J Trucking 10, Wharmby Sports 0

Scott Smith had two hits while Dan Kubala allowed only three hits with two strikeouts in the five-inning shutout. Matt Pitzulo drove in a pair of runs.

Yo. Metro 7, Baseball Academy 3

YOUNGSTOWN — Jim Pasquine went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and led Youngstown Metros past Baseball Training Academy of Pittsburgh Sunday at Pemberton Park.

Dom Sylvestry and Armani Johnson each added two hits, while Joe Antinone tossed a six hitter and struck out five to get the mound win.
