YAFWC installs officers at awards luncheon
YOUNGSTOWN — The presentation of awards and the installation of officers was on the agenda when Youngstown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs met on May 21 at Youngstown Country Club.
Lucile Bartelmay conducted the ceremony, at which the following officers were installed; Dottie Thomas, president; Lee Bowden, first vice president; Barbara Higgins, second vice president; Martha Ann Boyer, third vice president; Pat Sullivan, recording secretary; Carol James, corresponding secretary; and Sally Schlabaugh, treasurer. Elva Easton is the outgoing president.
Kathleen Rickert and Marjorie DeHoff presented the organization’s Community Service Award to Mary B. Smith for her work throughout the Valley over the years.
Valorie Zurawick, scholarship committee chairman, read a letter from Justyna Krupa, who received a $2,500 scholarship from the club to continue her education at YSU’s School of Engineering.
Thomas Solich played piano selections and vocals were by Kyle Merritt. Meditation was by Marilyn Weaver, and decorations were by Toni Douglass and Beverly Muresan, all of Fortnightly IV.
