Poland’s Vallinger heads to John Carroll University
Poland High graduate Tyler Vallinger will play football at John Carroll University.
Vallinger was a three-year letterman and captain of the 2007 team. He was selected to the all-quad county team. He led Poland in TDs last season.
The son of John and Melanie Vallinger, Tyler was accepted into the honors program at John Carroll. He also received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy and the Merchant Marines.
Charlie Lengyel
NORTH LIMA — South Range graduate Charlie Lengyel will continue his football career at Mount Union College.
A three-year letterwinner at linebacker, he was all-Inter Tri-County League first team, and broke a 21-year old school record when he returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown.
Jason Ferguson
MINERAL RIDGE — Jason Ferguson, a Mineral Ridge High graduate, will play football and baseball at Grove City College.
A two-year letterman and starter at linebacker, he had more than 200 tackles, 12 sacks and four interceptions and was selected all-Trumbull County each of the past two years.
In baseball, Ferguson was a four-year letterman and starter, finishing the 2008 season with a .486 batting average. He led ITCL Tier One in home runs (7) and RBIs (37). He was a first team ITCL choice.
Robert Wigfall
Robert Wigfall, a graduate of Hubbard High where he played basketball, football and track, will play football at Walsh University. This spring he was anchor on the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays that advanced to the state meet.
