BOARDMAN — Boardman Township Park will present Family Night on Saturday at the Maag Outdoors Arts Theater.

All movies start at dark after the concert. Other events include Jocko the Clown, hayrides, rental bouncers and a tent with goodies.

The excitement kicks off at 7 p.m. with a petting zoo put on by the 4-H Clubs, followed by a music performance by Rudy and the Professionals.

To finalize a great evening, bring out your wild side dress as your favorite animal and enjoy the hilarious “Evan Almighty” starting at dark.

Mercer Community Band pays tribute to musicals

MERCER, Pa. — The Mercer Community Band will kick off the summer concert season Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the Mercer County Courthouse square.

Playing a medley of songs from Broadway’s past, the band will feature songs from “Cinderella” and “The Sound of Music.” There will be a solo vocalist as well as the Greenville High School steel drum band.

Old-fashioned ice cream will be dished out by the Mercer Girl Scouts, and the Mercer band boosters will sell fresh popcorn.

The show will move to the Mercer High School auditorium if weather doesn’t cooperate.

Yoga in the gardens

YOUNGSTOWN — Experience a blend of yoga styles amidst the restorative power of nature in Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave. The yoga class starts at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and costs $10.

At the beginning of class, students will take an energizing walk in the gardens with instructor Heidi Suraci.

Bring a mat, small blanket and bottled water.

‘My Daughter the Terrorist’

YOUNGSTOWN — “My Daughter the Terrorist” documentary is an inside look at an organization that most of the world has blacklisted as a terrorist group.

Made by the first foreign film crew to be given access to the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka, the film offers insight into the recently re-ignited conflict.

“My Daughter the Terrorist” will show at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler North (Church), Wick Ave.

Columbiana County 4-H camp to open

LISBON — Columbiana County Extension is still accepting applications for children ages 6 through 12 for a 4-H summer day camp June 24, 25, and 26.

The theme is “The World of Fish,” and each day will be dedicated to education about fish. Days will be spent at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds and Pymatuning Fish Hatchery.

Children’s museum

YOUNGSTOWN — The Children’s Museum of the Valley, 139 E. Boardman St., will be hosting “Monkeying Around Day” on Tuesday starting at 10 a.m.

Activities will take place every hour until 4:30 p.m. Interactive stories, music, games and experiments will be based around the book series “Five Little Monkeys” written by Eileen Christelow.

Titanic in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — The Carnegie Science Center is hosting “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” through Sept. 1.

The exhibition takes visitors on a trip back in time to experience the story of Titanic.

Hundreds of authentic artifacts and re-creations of the ships rooms are on display. The exhibit focuses on the compelling human stories and shows a chronological journey of the legendary “unsinkable ship.”

The Titanic exhibit requires a separate, timed ticket.
