Woman reports stabbing, car theft

staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — A woman told police she was stabbed in the arm and scraped up as she struggled with a man and woman who entered and stole her car about 11 p.m. Thursday.

The woman, 39, said she had driven to Youngstown to pick up her husband from the Mahoning County Jail but stopped at the Belmont Drive Thru, 1840 Belmont Ave., to buy cigarettes.

While in line, an unidentified man got into the front passenger seat of her car and unlocked a rear door, allowing a woman to get in the back seat, and put a knife to the woman’s neck. The pair ordered the woman to drive.

At the intersection of Margaret Street and Delaware Avenue on the North Side, a few blocks from the drive-through, the man put the car in park, walked around to the driver’s side and tried to pull the victim out of the car.

Outside of the car, the two punched the victim and threatened to slit her throat. That is when the victim was stabbed in the arm. She also suffered cuts to her hand while trying to keep the knife away from her neck, she told police.

The two suspects took the keys to the car, a 2007 blue Chevrolet Cobalt rental car, and fled.

Youngstown police said there was no indication the woman required any medical attention. Police are investigating.
