ATLANTA — Tan White scored a season-high 21 points and the Indiana Fever held off Atlanta’s late comeback attempt to beat the winless Dream. The expansion Dream (0-9), in their inaugural year, own the third-longest winless streak to open a WNBA season. The Houston Comets lost their first 10 games in 2007, and the Detroit Shock started 0-13 in 2002. White scored 11 points in the first half to reach double figures for a seventh straight game. Ebony Hoffman had 12 points, and Tammy Sutton-Brown added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Indiana’s Katie Douglas, third in the league in scoring at 20 points per game, had two in the first half and finished with 11. Ivory Latta and Tamera Young each scored 14 points for Atlanta but combined to go 9-of-27 from the field.
Silver Stars 74, Storm 69
SAN ANTONIO — Becky Hammon scored 17 points, including an uncontested layup with 1:12 left, and San Antonio rallied from a 12-point deficit to top Seattle. Hammon’s basket, set up when Sophia Young stole Seattle’s Sue Bird pass near the basket, put the Silver Stars (5-4) ahead 69-65. Bird led Seattle (7-4) with 21 points. She scored 17 in the first half and helped the Storm lead by 12 early in the third quarter.
Mystics 64, Sky 57
CHICAGO — Alana Beard scored 13 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter and the Mystics snapped a five-game losing streak. The Mystics (3-7) earned their first road victory of the season and won for the first time since May 27. Taj McFranklin-Williams scored 14 and Beard added three assists and five rebounds. The Mystics shot 53 percent from the field (27-of-51) and overcame 22 turnovers, including eight by Beard. Chicago (3-5) lost its second straight and for the fourth time in six games.
