Storms down trees, power lines
STAFF REPORT
YOUNGSTOWN — Communities said trees, tree limbs and power lines were down, but there were no serious injuries reported immediately after a wicked storm moved through the region Friday evening.
Salem police said limbs were down “everywhere,” there were trees on power lines, and two people were trapped in a car on Euclid Street after a power line fell on it.
They were not injured. The fire department stood by as an Ohio Edison crew worked to free them.
Also in Salem, a blown transformer caused a small fire on North Ellsworth Street. On North Union Street, a car hit a tree. There were no injuries in that accident.
To the north, Warren reported downed tree limbs. In Niles, there were downed trees and lines.
The Trumbull County Sheriff’s office reported many calls, with two structure fires in Vienna. They had no more details immediately available.
Mahoning County seemed to fare better. Austintown reported some trees down. In Campbell, there were a lot of alarms going off. Boardman reported that the storm barely hit there.
