YOUNGSTOWN — Chapter CE-PEO Sisterhood will meet at noon Wednesday at A La Cart in Canfield for lunch and a meeting. The wrong meeting site was published in Friday’s club calendar. Delegates who attended the convention will present reports. Hostesses will be Ruth Stevenson and Dorothy Hoover.
Historical society plans war re-enactment event
MERCER, Pa., — The Mercer County Historical Society is helping to sponsor a French and Indian War re-enactment today and Sunday at the Boy Scout Camp at Custaloga Town near Milledgeville. This “living history” event is free and open to the public.
Featured will be two days of re-enactments, camp life, educational events and more. A French Indian War symposium will take place from 4:15-5:15 Saturday at The Indian Graveyard. Take a lawn chair.

United Way schedules football star as speaker
YOUNGSTOWN — Archie Griffin, former Ohio State University football star and two-time Heisman Trophy winner, will be the featured speaker at The Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way “Champions Among Us” event Aug. 5 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
Planned as an exciting, motivating and inspirational community evening, the event will begin at 5 p.m. with a cash bar and silent auction, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Afterward, Griffin will speak on “The Three D’s of Success,” and there will be a live auction.
