Riding With Dave Blaney

Last week: The Hartford native had his worst performance in his last five races at Pocono Raceway, and it was still a 22nd-place finish at the Pocono 500. Blaney started in 32nd position and even worked himself into the lead for a lap.

Season to date: Blaney has cracked the top 30 in the Sprint Cup Series standings. He sits 29th, with 1,150 points, just 72 points behind No. 28 Elliott Sadler and 102 in back of Paul Menard in 27th place.

This week: Blaney joins the rest of NASCAR’s top series at Michigan International Speedway for the Lifelock 400. If last season’s results are any indication he should continue his nearly two-month hot streak. Blaney finished 18th and sixth at MIS in 2007’s races. In fact he has three top 10 finished in 16 career starts here. Sunday’s race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. with television (TNT) coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m.
