R&J rallies past Simon


STRUTHERS — Steve McNeely drove home the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to cap a five-run rally, then his triple in the ninth drove home the first two runs of the game-winning rally as R&J Trucking knocked off Simon Roofing 11-7 in a Youngstown Class B League game Wednesday at Cene Park.

Dan Kubala, Scott Smith, and Joe Wielbruda had two hits each for R J (9-4) while Jared Barker (2-1) went five innings of relief for the win.

Ross Revella, Matt Durkin and Evan Bollinger had two hits apiece for Simon (9-4).

Youngstown Express 12, Physical Therapy 5

STRUTHERS — The Express (5-4) broke open a 5-5 game with seven runs in the last two innings as they defeated Action Physical Therapy.

Joe Strawinsky and Dan Eich had three hits each, while Sam Porter added a pair for the Express.

Livi Steel 7, Roth Brothers 2

NILES — Jim McCunnel (2-1) was the winning pitcher at Wilder Park. Jae Leeworthy hit a triple, single, while Dan Perkins and Matt Kirkwood each had two hits for Livi (7-6).

Kevin Monti had a pair of hits while Dan Sacui had a triple for Roth Brothers (5-8).

Youngstown Class AA

YOUNGSTOWN — Penn Ohio sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth inning as it scored eight runs to post a 14-3 victory over Youngstown Metros at Pemberton Park.

Mike Evans worked five innings, allowed only three hits and struck out seven to pick up the win. Scott McDermott double home two runs in the big inning and Adam Wilaj hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs. Willie Sly hit a pair of singles, scored three times and drove in two runs. Eric Pintz hit a triple for Metros.

Warren Class AA

WARREN — Mahoning Valley Knights kept its winning streak (6-0) going in the Caffie Division as Rick DiMuzio hit a double and single in a 4-2 win over Cleats Club Seat Grille.

Derek Stanton, Greg Barton and Brent Dutton hit a pair of singles apiece. Jeremy Hartman (2-0) pitched a complete game four-hitter, with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Andrew Beachy hit a pair of singles for Cleats (4-5).

Flex Strut 4, Elite Shockers 3

WARREN — Flex Strut (6-2) rallied for two runs in the sixth inning, then scored the deciding two runs in the seventh. Adam Morgan hit a double and single for the winners. Jim Newbrough hit a pair of singles. Mike Johnson of Elite Shockers (4-3) went 2-for-3 with a double.
